GED Testing Schedule

The GED is comprised of five tests in the areas of Language Arts-Writing, Language Arts-Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies. The tests are designed to measure the skills and concepts usually learned during four years of comprehensive high school. A high school equivalency certificate is awarded upon passage of all five tests.

• Any individual 18 years or older, or within 60 days of his 18th birthday
• Any individual within 60 days of when he would have graduated from high school
• Any individual who is 17 years of age, and has been out of school for at least 60 consecutive school days and provides a letter of request for the test from the military, a post secondary educational institution or a prospective employer

• All questions are multiple choice.
• Part II of the language arts writing requires examinees to write an essay on a given topic.
• A Casio FX-260 calculator will be provided for Part I of the math test.
• Higher level critical thinking skills are emphasized.
• Business communications and practical documents are found throughout the tests.

• When ready to take the first test, you must attend a 2 hour GED registration session at which time you will pay the $125.00 fee for all five tests and present a valid picture ID
• A valid ID may include a California driver’s license, military ID, passport, resident card or tribal ID
• Retests are $25 each
• If you fail to keep your appointment for a scheduled test, there is a $25 reschedule fee.
• We only accept cash for payment of GED fees.  No checks or credit cards are accepted.
